Lament

Look Earth, I am alive.
Why? — We proclaim,
and wonder to what end.
The infinite in gyration
spills forth another spring
for us to caress with our eyes.
Maddening spring where love
unbundles limitless progeny
upon the dust.
For happiness, oh Earth?
The burden is a massive
attempting to shoulder
the weight of being.
But being, like breath
cannot help it’s persistence.
Look Earth, I am alive,
and I press on…
